TeamViewer

TeamViewer is an application that allows remote access and assistance over the internet.  You can log into a person’s computer by having them run a light application on their computer, and then typing in a randomly generated password and session ID.  This traverses NATing and Firewalls, making remote support possible in a way that never was before.  Plus, it runs on both Mac and PCs, making it light, portable, cross-platform, and easy to use.  Kudos to the TeamViewer team for their hard work.  You can download a free trial here: Download

Teamviewer is a good application, but a very good alternative based on lower pricing and ease of use is Techinline (www.techinline.com). It also allows you to access remote computers and take control of mouse and keyboard, as well as copy and paste text etc. The neat thing is it allows you to share your own desktop view with the client, so you could switch back and forth. Since it runs through the web browser, nobody has to install anything and it is fully customizable. It’s the perfect solution for basic remote support which I provide
